I have known Ayman, the main baggage hauler between the Israeli terminal and the PA immigration stand, for 18 years now. He has been there virtually every one of my 30-odd visits, and we have become good friends. Since I was last here two years ago, he has improvised his trolley with a bicycle!
In the never ending mystery of Gaza's paradoxes, he was more serene and happy than I've seen him in years, despite the desperate circumstances in Gaza and that he must now compete with the golf carts imported from Turkey.
